Native Postmarks 1876-1937 

The Persian postal system experienced four stages of development before a postmark contained all required information was reached. This exhibit shows the four stages in brief, indicating the necessity for improving the postmark hence the necessity of moving to the next stage of development. Concentrates of the Exhibit is on Stage II, Native Postmarks. The three other stages of Postmarks (Single Circular, Oval and Double Circle) were uniform in shape and format. The reason for concentrating on the Native Postmarks is because they are the only type of postmark which are not uniform in shape, format, colour and content, making it very versatile and the most interesting for an in depth study.
